  • Vets/civilians with official business, NAS Jax Security personnel will verify their status via the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) granting access for up to 30 days at a time (must have a valid photo ID).

How to Gain NAS Jacksonville Base Access

1) Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). Eligibility is based on a 0-100% service connected disability. Register at Building 9 located by the Yorktown Gate at Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, to encrypt the card. Once the card is encrypted, access is granted up to three years. To obtain a VHIC card, go to: https://www.va.gov/healthbenefits/vhic.

2) Utilization of the VA care coordinator. The VA care coordinator will call (904) 542–7545 / 7546 to register the VA patient through Military Access Control System (MACS). Once entered in to MACS, the individual can pick up a pass at the Visitor Control Center (VCC) building 9 Jefferson Gate. The individual will have up to 30 days access to NAS Jacksonville with appropriate identification (ex: Real ID, Drivers License, Passport, etc.). This process could take 48 hours.

How to Sponsor a Visitor / Non Medical Attendee

Eligible Veterans can sponsor an individual per the guidelines below:

  • The sponsor, who is an authorized beneficiary (Veteran), will bring their  “visitor” to NAS Jacksonville Visitor Control Center (VCC).
  • Eligibility of the sponsor will be verified and the visitor will be required to provide appropriate identification (ex: Real ID, Drivers License, Passport, etc.).
  • Once eligibility has been verified, the sponsor will be issued a 1-30 day visitor pass.
  • Each time the visitor comes onboard NAS Jacksonville, they will be required to provide identification (ex: Real ID, Drivers License, Passport, etc.) and their visitor pass.
